Experience Australia's fastest growing lawn sport
Croquet is, at its heart, a game of precision, patience, and psychological warfare conducted at a genteel pace. Played on a lawn with mallets, balls, and hoops, it rewards strategic thinking and a steady hand – and offers ample opportunity to make life quietly difficult for one’s opponents, all while maintaining perfect composure.
First popularised in Victorian England, croquet has enjoyed enduring appeal across the Commonwealth as a sport that is simultaneously accessible to beginners and deeply competitive at its upper levels. It requires no particular athleticism, only nerve (and a good sense of humour).

Conceived as an idea in 2025 and formally established in 2026 on the back lawns of the Bowlo, the Royal Uralla Croquet Club is proud to be the newest addition to Uralla’s sporting landscape – and arguable its most distinguished.
Founded by locals David Mann and Bob Crouch, the Club plays year round and welcomes both social and competitive players.
The sessions typically start in the Bowlo clubhouse with a cold beverage and prawn crackers before venturing outside to do some practice before breaking out into groups across our playing fields. Upon completion of our games, we share a family-style dinner at the Bowlo Chinese restaurant.
